Literature circles 3
The first time I read hatchet, the boy called Brian was really a frightened boy. He was very unpleasant and didn't really think about good things. All he thought about was his parents divorcing. I really didn't like him because he was always negative. He didn't even think about things that were positive. This is how he reacted at the first chapters. Later, he remembered about what Perpich had said to him. "Always be positive." That one sentence made Brian stand up and gather food in order to survive. He slowly began to erase the thought about his father and mother. He concetrated on survivng and living. He began to think deeply. When animals came in his shelter, first he attacked one of them, but then he thought that he shouldn't hurt animals without reasons. So he just calmly waited for the animal to go or nod and smile to not let them suspect him. Also, a long time ago, when he arrived the island, he just thought that it wasn't a pleasant site. Later in the chapters, he sat down and also said he watched the beautiful scenery. His thoughts had changed. Before, he was a negative boy but now he was a positive thinking boy. That was how he change through out the chapters like how Mafatu did. Once he was a boy who was afraid of the sea, but now, he was a brave, courageous boy. That is how Brian changed like Mafatu.
