The last white mountains

1. 2. Write a letter to the character . Include any questions that you may want to ask the character, provide specific evidence from the novel

Dear Will Parker

I've been reading about you since the end of January. You were a brave boy to take on the dangerous journey. Weren't you hesitant when Osymandias gave you the offer of leaving your home? Your only parents? What about missing your own home? If I were you, I would have been hesitant but you were brave to endure the pain of leaving home. I wouldn't have endured it. I know how it might have felt when Henry came along with you. Henry was a person you didn't like so I think it would have been strange. You were smart enough to find Captain Curtis to cross the ocean. Your lucky that he had helped you or else you might have been lost. How were you feeling that time? Were you nervous or just normal? I would have been nervous to reach a place that you have never been to. You did a good job going to an unknown island! (France actually)

Will, I know you have been ill and was in the Chateau de la Tour Rouge for somedays and fell in love with Eloise. You would have been shocked that she was a capped girl which was different from being a free girl. You would have been really sad, and depressed that the woman you love couldn't come along with you and she had to go serve the tripods forever. You would have been in real pain leaving your love behind somewhere else. I know you felt like that but falling in love with a girl wasn't really a good thing to do because you had to continue your journey. It was kind of a foolish thing to do. I would have stayed there, until I get better and leave immediately or the tripods will get you. That is what I should have done.

Also, you were really courageous to take the metal of the caps beneath your arm off. Normally, some boys would have been scared to remove the button because it was on the surface of your flesh. It would have hurt a lot too. I wouldn't have the courage to do that but I think you did an excellent job removing that thing. You should thank Beanpole because he was the one who removed it from you and, he and Henry noticed there was a button beneath your arm or else you would have been followed by the tripods. You were really brave to fight the tripod. Even though it was much bigger and stronger than you, you defeated it. It was good that the tripod picked you up because you were able to throw the metal egg into the hole of the tripod. I felt really relieved that you made it to the White Mountains. Like Ozymandias had said, it was a dangerous and a long journey. I'm glad that you are living with the free men now. I hope that the free people will defeat the tripods and enjoy the goodness of the land.

Literature circles discussion

Our groups' literature circles was great. In my group, we have Avni and Ian. Avni is a preson who discusses a part a lot and says all of her thoughts about the passages. Ian is good at participating and answering the questions. (Avni is really good!) First we discussed about pur passages. Avni started as the first and started to explain a particular page of the story. Avni shared her thoughts and kept on talking, talking and talking! She really took some time to explain and went on to her second passage. Her passages were brilliant because she included a lot of her thoughts and explained everything in the page. Then, it was Ians' turn. His passages were a little bit short but he did a good job in explaining his passage. It only took a short time because Ian had a short passage. Then it was my turn. My passages were a bit long so I had to shorten what I said. I made it simple so that it didn't took a long time and finished it.
Our questions were fairly good enough. Avni had one stong question and I had one too. Ians' questions were also good. I think the questions were all great. We discussed the questions and gave in good answers. I think Avni had the longest and good answer. Avni answered partly all the questions and the answers were all great. Then we went on to the volabulary and talked about something else. This was how our literature circles went.

The White mountains #2

I think that Beanpole will help them go to The white mountains safely, because he had been living on the strange land for a long time. Like he said in the book, he said to Will and Henry that he could help them get to the South. Beanpole didn't say that in a shy way. He said it confidently like he knew all the places of the land. Since he knows about the places, I think he might know places that are safe enough to travel and take shortcuts in the way. I first thought that he was unusual because he just popped up in the story like how Will met Ozymandias. It was really random for me because normally, the main characters solve the hard problems by themselves but this time a new character had saved Will and Henry but I thought that he was a normal boy and could be trusted. Since he is smart and could speak fluent english, he would be really helpful by asking questions and asking about the Tripods and all. I think Beanpole is a persoon giving Will and Henry information.

The other part I think that Beanpole will help them by is getting more food and some herbs for wounds. I think that in this journey, Will and Henry are going to get hurt a lot of times because Will and sprang his ankle which didn't allow him to walk properly. Since Beanpole knows a lot, I think he is going to help them with those kind of problems. Like we discussed in class, information was a powerful thing. With information, people could solve mostly anything. I think that this is how Beanpole is going to help Will and Henry.

The white mountains connection

Will is a boy that is foolish, selfish, careless, whiny, and adventurous. He is a boy that has all of these personalities. There are some of his personalities that are similar with me. Lets see what those personalities are.

One of the similar personalities with me is being careless. I am always careless about things. Like in tests for example. In tests, I make these silly, unacceptable mistakes that I always regret about. For example I can see 8+7 as 8x7. This is how I make the careless mistakes. When I'm careless, I also hit myself on something. If I see a wall, I accidently just bump into it. It normally happens at my home. I bang myself on to edges of tables and chairs which really hurts a lot when you bang on to your heels. In these ways, I am always careless. Seldom, I accidently take things outside and mess it up like how Will messed up his dad's watch when he took it outside.

When I think of myself, I think that there are some times when I am whiny about things. A long time ago, I was whiny about when my mom bought my brother things and she didn't buy things to me. I think that I sometimes whine to my friends about like to stop drinking my drink or things like begging for my friend to come along with me to the band lockers or somewhere. I think I do that. These are my connections with Will.

These were the personalities that I have similar to Will. I think that Will is an interesting boy because he had some weird personalities. These were all my connections with Will.

BAND HW

The International School of Kuala Lumpur provides (Silence) an exceptional education that challenges each student to develop the attitudes, skills, knowledge and understanding to become a highly successful, spirited, socially responsible global citizen.

I felt that the part after the International School of Kuala Lumpur could cause tension. I chose that part because if people were listening to this they would come up with a question like "What are you going to say next? What does ISKL provide?" Tension creates the audience question things. These were the most of the questions I came up with.

Part 2

Composers can make a sudden silence in their music to make people question things like "When is it going to start? Why did it stop?" Then, the composer could start the music quietly or loudly to create the tension. Or, the composer can suddenly make the music quiet when it was loud. They could put short notes right after long notes and accents when there wasn't one. That is how composers can make tension in these ways.

Resolutions for 2010

The resolutions for this year is different than the 2009's resolution. I only have three main resolutions. The first one is to exercise and become a better runner than before. The second resolution is to read many varieties of books. The third resolution is to study harder and get straight A's. Here are the reasons to these three resolutions.

The first resolution is becoming an athletic person or a better runner. When I was young, I used to exercise a lot and run a lot but I started to not exercise that much. I could run short distances but I couldn't run distances that fast because my stamina was weak. I took activities like track and field and it helped me become a good runner. The reason why I chose this resolution is because I want to become a better runner. I hope I can reach my goal! My goal is to make 400, and 800 meters an easy run.

My second resolution was reading varieties of books. When I was young, I really hated to read books and thought books were boring. I hardly read any books when I was young. Slowly, I began to read books but I only read fantasy books. So I was often scolded from my mom that I should read other varieties of books. I started off with mystery books. My top favorite types of books were fantasy, mystery, and a personal life story. It was only three types of books that I liked. So I think I should read more books and different types of them. Also, reading many types of books should help me with my writing, and reading comprehension skills. :D

My third resolution was to study hard and get straight A's. Normally, I make really careless mistakes and always regret about it. Especially in math tests, I make a REALLY HUGE careless mistake. Out of 100 points, I get some points off for that. Careless mistakes just lower my grades. I regret it a lot. This time, I think I should really concentrate on tests so that I can get good grades. My goal is to get higher than an A-! I hope that I can reach this goal, so that I can have new resolutions for the next year.

This was the main three resolutions and why I got these resolutions. These resolutions are really important for me to achieve it. I think writing out these resolutions was a good idea because it helps us to achieve it, and think deeply about it. So I think I would be able to achieve these goals until the end of 2010!
